I've been looking at the new mora craftline model.. Lately.. It looks allot like a stainless clipper to me... I recieve a Photo from of one witih a split handle from the folks at mora.. the tang seems to run almost to the bootom of the handle much like the 510 supposedly the blade is thicker and I heard the spine is more finished.

DOes anyone have one? what are your thoughts? is the spine squared for ferro usage?

Thanks

I believe the red knife on the bottom is the Stainless All around if we are talking about the same one. Yet the spine is finished.

edit.

The blade is the same thickness as the 510/511 I think. Both are thicker than the Clippers

John,
I've got one, it's my go-to knife for backpacking. It comes in at .098 thickness, about the same as the 510 as was mentioned. Spine is finished, and squared off nicely. I get good sparks from my LMF scout. Sheath could be better, but works (I got some nice kydex for it, though). The handle is a bit grippier than the Clipper, but smooths out some over time. It's a very confidence-inspiring blade, with it's thickness and near-full-length tang. I'd highly recommend it. Hope this helps...

Sorry for any thread drift: how does the handle on the other 'bushcraft series' knives compare to the 711G there?

It fits my hands more like the 911/946. I think the Bushcraft line uses the same handle as those. I got big hands so prefer the 711/746 handle more though found the Tri-flex workable.

Raindog.. THanks man...DOe sit seem like the handle will endure longterm wear and tear? some times the grippier handle can deteriorate with use..
Thanks again

It's a little hard to say. I've only had it about 6 months, but it seems better now than when I got it. Was a bit too sticky at first, but the rubber has smoothed out some, and it's getting real nice now. I think it'll hold up at least as well as the old Clipper handle.

It is the only Mora I've ever had. I can't really compare it to anything but, I absolutely love it. I can't imagine the handle breaking down badly with use. It is a really nice grippy handle.

I bought the orange serrated version to use as an emergency-only canoe knife. As such, it is highly unlikely it will ever get used, so I can't say too much about it.

A magnet demonstrates that the tang goes to within an inch of the butt. Mine came shaving sharp. The handle feels very good in the hand. I will probably buy the red plain edge eventually.

I had one and it was great, but I have other knives that I use more. I gave it to my buddy the chef, and he loves it.

I've been looking at this Mora for a couple of months now as well.
Do they only come in the stainless variety?
I've really been getting into Mora's myself lately.
Very nice looking knife there

Cheers

I bought one and then immediately ordered three more to give as gifts.

I have a pretty good collection of various Mora models and the Craftline All-around is by far my favorite. The blade is stout, the handle fits me perfectly and the little bit of extra fit-and-finish (namely, the finished spine) makes it more loveable than the others. :)

I haven't used mine extensively, but I expect it will hold up for a while. Quite a while more than a $17 knife should, I'll bet!

If you decide to buy one, buy two or three or four... you won't regret it!

Stay sharp,

I should really do that. Mora of Sweden is making me nervous lately, with all this product line turnover. Not that more Moras to choose from is a bad thing, but I'd hate to sleep on getting more Allrounds, only to have them discontinued suddenly.
Funny story about the Allround. My wife, who is far from a knife person, just loves the Mora Clipper. She uses it all the time in the kitchen, it beats the hell out of our crappy Henckels paring knife ( I know, I know! New kitchen cutlery is on tap for this Christmas. Forschner, I think). The Clipper went missing a few days ago, so I pulled out the Allround for some kitchen duty. Without missing a beat, she comments on how the Allround is a much nicer knife than the Clipper. She doesn't know jack about knives, but even she could tell it was a definite step up, even though cosmetically the 2 are nearly identical to the non-knife person.

I hear yea. I noticed they have a Craftline Allround stainless that now comes with blue ends on the handle and clearish sheath. I think it is the same knife as the red one. I can't find the red knife much on-line these days.

tell your wife that: "sambo. say's you are now officially a "knife person" because of your appreciation of Mora Minutiae."

It's the new 'TopQ Allround', thats apparently thicker and with a deeper tang. I'm looking to pick one up for myself pretty soon, I like the looks of em.

I love my All around, great knife, and its in the bug out bag right now.
I just ordered the carbon HighQ all around. I am looking forward to this one.

The Crafline Allround is an excellent knife. It offers unbelievable quality for the price.

See how the blade comapares to the Clipper:

The tang is longer than the Clipper's and the sheath has better retention.

This photo by SporK60 at KnifeForums shows a magnet on a HighQ carbon knife. The HighQ has the thinner blade with unfinished spine like the old Clipper but a longer tang.

I believe that the stainless TopQ Allround has the same length of tang. I just wish they offered a carbon steel TopQ.
