Mora edge angle and prefered edge angles?

If my calculations are correct, the angle on my KJ Erickson (#510) is only 6.34degrees per side roughly. If my rough measurements are correct that is about 1 unit up and 9 over. I love the thin edge of this knife but I think that it may be just a bit too thin. I have managed to chip the edge, ever so slitely, by just cleaning fish and a little wood wittling. I also have a couple of handless frosts whos edges are roughly 9.5degrees per side. I used the frosts so I don't have much of an opinion on weather or not the 9.5 degrees is too thin or not.

It seems that alot of people on here like the moras, but as far as other knives go all I ever hear about edges is 15 and 20 degrees. But 15 and 20 per side seem too thick to me.

I hope to start making knives as a hobby in the hopefully near future and I was thinking of putting an 11 degree single bevel edge on my knives. My reasoning is that it would have the thinner edge that I prefer but have enough behind it to prevent chipping easily.

QUESTIONS:

As a consumer what kind of edge do you prefer, especially in a hunter/utility blade?

And would you buy/be interested in a hunter/utility with an 11degree per side single bevel edge?

The first couple I make will be for myself and family/friends as gifts etc. but if it goes really well and I'm satisfied with the quality that I am able to produce I might try to sell a couple. Also, you should know that I am very anti double bevel so no thanks if you are going to suggest that.

What effect does a static degree of bevel (as you suggest) have on a blade with a distal taper, or one with a round belly........does the angle have to change to compensate, or is it constant? ......

That sounds pretty acute for a Mora (I'm presuming 6.34 degrees per side). I just measured two Moras, and they are about 19 degrees and 23 degrees, inclusive. Significantly less acute.

Kevin Davey: Huh???

Shecky: Well like I said the Frost blades I have are 9.5 per side which would put them at 19 inclusive, but I have not used them. The KJ Erickson I have and use has the 6 per side angle. I don't have a precise way of measureing so what I'm doing is taking the inverse tangent of the rise over the run to get my angles so my measurements could be a tad off but they are should be well in the ballpark.
