Hi guys,

It seems these 2 knives are considered in top of all around knives. I like both of them but I cannot decide between them. I want one all around knife, easy to sharpen, carbon steel with good edge retention and comfortable handle.
I've not used either C100 or K720 (O2) steels. If you have experience with these knives, please let me know about pros and cons.

Thanks a lot!
Lika

LAST EDIT: sorry, it’s about Mora Garberg Black Carbon vs Casstrom Lars Falt K720.

I've used lots of Mora, mostly those pre 1960 with laminated steel- amazing knives. Haven't used the recent Morakniv styles nor Casstrom - although they look excellent, esp. the Casstrom. Pricing - I think you can buy a half dozen Morakniv for the price of a Casstrom. I think I'll see about getting a Casstrom (after I pay off Xmas credit card :)) I love Nordic knives. Have you looked at Brisa (Enzo) lines? I see you like good puukko also (I collect vintage Finnish puukko).

Lika -

I know the current Morakniv has a good reputation from all I've heard. Personally, I don't care for rubber handles and plastic sheaths. The Casstrom look more like a sturdy, well made outdoor knife. As I said above, I've never tried them, but the Casstrom really appeals to me.

I don’t think it is fair to compare these two knives.

The Mora Bushcraft Black costs around 35 dollars (a little more of you want the built in sharpener and a firesteel), and the Casstrom is around 150-180.

The Casstrom is made in Spain by Joker, from K720 which is close to 02 while the Mora is made in Sweden from 1095 equivalent (C100). The Casstrom is quite a bit thicker 4mm than the Mora 3.25 mm. I lean towards thinner knives, and 4mm is a fat one. If you love thick blades, you could try the Varistuleka.

The Casstrom is a fancier knife with leather sheath, slightly upgraded steel, and a standard grade curly birch handle. But is it worth 5 times to cost of the Mora? Does it have the features you want and like?

I would suggest getting a Mora and using it for a while to see what you like and don’t like.

Then order a custom for a little more than the cost of a Casstrom, and get a better steel, fancier handle, thinner blade stock. Maybe 100 dollars more than the Casstrom.

Also, go here and put a dollar in a jar each time you visit the website.... and boom you can order something custom you love and it will be built around what you learned using the Mora.

Thank you R Rich S ! I like Nordic knives as you and I love puukkos. I already have a Terava Jaakaripuukko 110 which is great. I saw Enzo and I like Trapper but I want this year to choose one from these 2 knives. Personally, I like Casstrom more than Mora Garberg but the reviews of Garberg Black is over the Casstrom Lars Falt. Regarding the puukkos, I wish to Malanika Pukkoo in CPM 4v or Vanadis 4extra but I have no suffient founds for that at this moment. :)

Thank you, E Elgatodeacero for your opinion. I already have a Terava Jaakaripuukko 110 in 80CrV2 carbon stell and I love it. As I said to R Rich S , I want another one knife. I wish a Malanika Puukko (4v or Vanadis 4Extra) but I proposed myself to try another one good knife until I could buy Malanika.
I prefer Casstrom in terms of good steel, design, sheath but the reviews of Mora Garberg Black is over Casstrom. You're right, Casstrom is more expensive. For that reasons I asked your opinions based on your experience.

The cheapest I've seen the Garberg selling for is about $75-80. If the Casstrom is truly about $150, then the price difference isn't quite as great. Either way, I don't have a dog in this.... y'all just made me interested enough to go check on the morakniv....

I've never used a Bushcraft Black, but I gave my nephew a Bushcraft Orange. It's a solid knife. Too solid to be honest. With the thickness and low grind, it's heavier and more blade heavy than I like.

I prefer the cheaper Moras.
