I've been interested in the Mora Garberg for some time as a light field blade because of the steel (Sandvik 14c28n), the wide contoured and full-sized handle, and the full tang blade.

FortyTwoBlades FortyTwoBlades sells these on his site (http://www.baryonyxknife.com/). But for a $15 add-on, he'll convert the Garberg or other Mora knife scandi grinds to a FFG and thin the blade stock, making it useful not just for bushcraft, but also giving improved performance at slicing and regular knife tasks. Haven't field tested yet, but from simple sharpness tests, this blade is slicey and does well at a variety of things I wanted, including food prep.

Specs:
  • Weight: Before (5.98oz). After (5.55oz).
  • Spine width: Unchanged. About 0.130" right at the handle; a little ways out on the spine where your thumb rests, it's 0.120" as pictured below.
  • Handle width at widest point: 0.87". The large, grippy, comfortable handle is one of the best things about this knife.
  • Additional features (true on the factory knife as well): extended tang, 90 degree spine that strikes sparks from a ferro rod. Tested this: it throws amazingly robust sparks from any point on the spine, and from the extended tang. In fact I may slightly polish the first inch or so of the spine, it has an "edge" from the factory that is a little sharp.

Nice, I personally would go with a hollow grind as to not mess up the stamp but I'm sure this is a major improvement.
I absolutely prefer a FFG or very thin bladed sabre grind to a scandi.

I bought a mora companion from FortyTwoBlades FortyTwoBlades with a regrind a couple of years ago and it’s been used every day in the kitchen.

The additional cost is well worth what he charges and I wasn’t aware that a flat ground Garberg was a option. I might have to order one.

I don't list it as an option because I don't want to/can't do them all the time. Edge work is less picky about grinding belt condition than doing full flat grinds because of the huge difference in contact area, so I always use a brand new belt when doing a regrind. I typically do up a few here and there and list them in the modified Moras section on the website. But Maximus was looking to get the work done, and I had a Garberg in stock, fresh belts on hand, and I've managed to keep pace with holiday orders, so I agreed to take the request. As such, if you ever want a specific model done, feel free to drop me a line and see if I'm able to at that point in time, and the worst I can tell you is "not quite yet". :)
