Mora Handle Modification Question

I'm tired of looking at my red handled Mora's and wondering what sorts of interesting bacteria I've got inside the handle. I started to dig around the clamp ring and tang to try and pull the locking clamp ring out and disassemble them, I plan on cleaning them up, filling with epoxy, and putting them back together.

I can't get a pliers in deep enough to grab hold of that locking ring - not enough clearance between it and the tang. So my question for those who have done this is - can you recommend a high quality needle nose that will get in there, or is there a source for spare Mora handles in case I just need to cut them off?

Thanks!

Clamp the blade loosely in a padded vise and sit it on the ferrule. Then use a punch to drive the tang out of the tang clamp ring. Be careful not to hit so hard as to knock the blade out onto the floor.

I'll try that, thanks! And thanks for giving me the correct terms for my post!

What Rich said. I disassemble all my Moras, then squirt epoxy down the tang hole and reassemble.

I'm going to do them all at once. Some are looking pretty gross where the blade enters the ferrule/handle, so I'm going to take care of this once and for all, both for possible bacteria as well as hidden corrosion. I wish I could do the same for my rubber handled Buck Vanguard and some of my Barkies...
