Can some one direct me to the history/development/reviews of the mora? My brother happened to pick mine up today, and dimissed it as junk. Oh, the outrage! I am trying to prove something to him, as you can imagine, even though the best way to prove it would be to get him one, I guess.

Hey Dijos...

Have a look around Ragnars site..I think he may have some history up there..

www.ragweedforge.com

Also if you want to show your brother in law just how effective a Mora is, grab a harwood dowel from the hardware store and start carving it...
The answer will be obvious right away.

I had pretty much the same attitude about Moras not being any good. I kept reading post about how superb they are so I ordered two. One carbon and one stainless. I see what all of the hype is about now. They are cutting machines. They glide trhough about anything you want to cut. I am impressed to say the least.
Ragnar is a great guy to order from. He answers every email promptly and ships fast.

+1 for Ragnar's site. It's where I ordered mine - a great person to deal with:

That is the one I bought. It is a great cutter and the grip is very secure. I just cold blued mine to help prevent the carbon steel rusting.

I'm sure your brother's a great guy, Dijos, but I think we can dismiss this opinion of his as junk! ;) Them what's never used 'em are in no position to knock 'em.

I think it is the simplicity of the Mora (and similiar knives) that throw people off.
Both of my Mora's are very inconspicuous , wooden handled affairs , they look old time and thus innocent and to a person infatuated with the latest carbon fiber , BG 1599 xx steel (i made that up :D ) and tritium thumbstuds , a Mora is going to make them sleepy.
Until they use one.
IMO Mora's are the epitome of the perfect companion camp/outdoor knife.

The Mora is indeed deceiving. What is still a mystery to me is how these knives are available for $10. You and I know that $10 spent on a knife at Wal-Mart or similar place will get you a Faberware kitchen knife or equally cheap fillet knife in the sporting goods section. I now find myself buying Mora knives as gifts, with one or two reserved for me. Ragweedforge is top notch.:)
