Mora IWB Carry: Can It Be Done?

So I have found a $25 Visa gift card, and a Swedish Miltary type Mora has been tickling my fancy. I would like to EDC it if I decided to buy it, but there are a few issues. While it would not be inherently illegal to openly carry it, doing that would attract some unwanted attention. Could you carry the stock plastic sheath IWB?

I'm sure you could, but I'm not sure you should... or rather, do so comfortably. Pocket carry might be the better option if your local laws allow it, you may not be able to do either if the legal language imply's partial concealment, as "concealing a deadly weapon". I usually open carry my fixed blade on my strong side, never got a second look, at least not one that I saw. hope this helps.

It really depends on which model you get. Some of the newer Mora of Sweden ones come with sheaths with rotating belt clips that make it easy to carry them IWB, like you would a sheath with a Spydie G-clip. The ones with fixed belt clips (like the Clipper series) or loops are a bit trickier to set up for comfortable IWB carry, but it can be done.

Thanks for the response. I would looking into the clipper model specifically, and after thinking about it a little more, I don't really think IWB carry would be particularly feasible.

If you can get the Bushcraft Black Mora I can guarantee you that the IWB carry is quite practical as I do this regularly. If you wear any type of covering garment like a an unbuttoned untucked shirt, or a light jacket or vest it's even easier to carry it inside the belt. I wear an inexpensive leather vest and this is my edc.

The other thing you can do if you buy one of the clippers is to cut the clip off the top of the sheath and superglue it lower to the side. A light sanding to rough up the smooth finish might help. I've done this to several of my Mora Clipper sheaths and they ride high and inside my belt quite comfortably. If you don't want to use superglue you can substitute industrial strength self adhesive Velcro.

Hey,

Thanks for the great tip. This is what mine looks like now. I plan on doing this to all my moras.
