Mods, I put this here because moras are most popular with the outdoor folk. Please move it if this isn't reason enough.

So....I was visiting Flealand in Bowling Green, Kentucky yesterday. I spotted a mora clipper on top of a display case. "Wow!" I said to my fiancee. "I've never seen anyone actually sell these around here!" Excited, I picked up the knife....But something was wrong. It had all the correct parts--rubber grip, plastic sheath--but the grinds on the blade were a little off, and the point was rounded off, too. I looked a little closer and saw that the blade said STAINLESS CHINA! The knife was retailing for 8.00, which is dang near the price of a new, genuine clipper. Has anyone ever seen a counterfeit/China-made mora before? It baffles me that someone would bother to copy such an inexpensive knife. Be aware, first-time mora buyers! :grumpy:

Thats really odd, I never seen a China made Mora copy before.

I guess China will copy about anything.

Thanks for the heads up.

I get all my Moras from Ragweed Forge, so I won't run into that problem with the ones I buy. If I see one in a local store, though, I'll look it over carefully.

Hi,

to my knowledge, all Mora of Sweden knives are manufactured in Mora/Sweden. I have seen copies before, so take care!!!

Best regards,

These are floating around on ebay as well.
Some of the sellers are very sneaky in their item description about not saying where its made, also they use blurry pics. I asked one seller and he reluctantly admitted they were made in China.
If you can't see the makers name/marks on the blade then ask the seller just to be sure.
:)

do these actually say they are Moras or just look like them?

The one I saw didn't say "Mora" on it, but it looked EXACTLY like one...except for the poor workmanship. So I guess that means it's not exactly a counterfeit, as it's not claiming to be a mora, but an uninformed consumer could be fooled if he or she wasn't careful, and I would hate to have someone be soured on these wonderful knives because they accidentally bought a fake.

ETA: Thanks, mods, for putting this where it belongs. I wasn't sure.
