I just got a couple Mora Clippers...

I was under the impression that scandi grinds had only one bevel. But as I look at my this pair of blades I can see the glint of another angle change very close to the edge.

What's up with that?

(I know a mod might want to move this, but the W&SS folks seem like the authority on this type of knife.)

Sometimes they come with a slight secondary bevel. Do you know how to sharpen a scandi? You just lay it flat on a stone and sharpen along the bevel (the true bevel, not the secondary bevel). If you do this, you'll get past the secondary bevel and get your true single bevel. Also, you'll get past the sometimes 'bad' steel left behind from machining.

Either way, there are no knife police that are gonna come arrest you for having a secondary bevel. Some people even prefer a slight convex secondary bevel for edge strength.

Thanks.

I like the feel of these knives. Especially for the price.

And on a side note...this may be one of the most sheeple friendly blades i've ever seen...which is actually kinda cool.

A true Scandi does not, so you can do like spooky said and sharpen it away, it's a good idea to do anyways to get to the good steel, also like he said.

But, you don't have too, some people like that tiny second bevel, its up to you. I don't like it, but it's your knife.

They usually come razor sharp and I just leave them alone until they are ready to sharpen and then just sharpen them like a true scandi.

This is what I have noticed from the few I have gotten to experience.

Well mine had a respectable cutting edge. Wouldnt take hair off my arm or push cut paper though, so a fair ways from razor.

You know mine came kinda dull too. No worries, when you sharpen it the first time, its amazing. So sharp. Its scary.

There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
