My brother has been camping for a while but has yet to really get himself a decent camping knife. I've been looking at getting him a Mora and have narrowed it down to a couple. The Mora Bushcraft Forrest/Signal or Bushcraft Force. They appear to be the same knives except for the blade grind near the tip (I'm not exactly sure what they call the indentation but it is the grind like the Mora 2000 has) on the Forrest/Signal. For camping/hunting/fishing is there any real preference in the two or is one just as good as the other?

You can't really go wrong with a Mora. The difference is that one has a full scandi grind, where the other is half scandi and half... I don't know. Regular. Might be kind of a pain to sharpen. I'd go with the full scandi grind.

I didn't even know Mora did anything that wasn't Scandi-ground. If it ain't broke, and actually works superbly, why try to fix it? Any of the full Scandi Moras will serve you very well (anything from the short, standard ones to the long, more rare ones). Their stainless and carbon are both great, choosing between them is just a matter of if you can deal with having to patina and oil it for better performance. Moras are very highly regarded for good reason.

the 2000 is still a scandi grind its just thinned out to half of blade stock, so a thinner upper blade for better slicing. personally I don't care for it so go with the other one. A Mora Companion works pretty well as is, this will cover pretty much any and every situation that might arise

I love my Mora 748 pretty much eats everything the blade touches, if you are (or ever are) looking for a larger Scandi knife.

Mora Bushcraft Forest is an AWESOME knife !

I have even batoned with it. Cleans up nice w/some WD-40, don't it ?

I wound up getting a couple of the Bushcraft Force blades. Very nice knives for the money imo. Thanks for the input!
