Mora rope knife rebuild

Picked up a More rope knife and decided to do a rehandle/resheath. Cut the blade free of the original handle and made one that fits my hand a little better.

Is a good size for EDU with a shorter handle on it, and stainless a plus for my usage. The serrations are cut in at the factory after the entire edge is ground, so when I went back and resharpened it I had to recut the serrations to keep them from getting too spaced out. Not really a problem if they do, but I felt the first go around they should be spaced closer to factory specs than that.

Handle is from an old geologist hammer, maybe hickory. Ferrule is cut from a copper pipe. This size blade does not have the extension for the steel sleeve, so I drilled the hole and used JB weld to set the blade.

I don't do much of this kind of thing, overall it turned out pretty nice for me. I left many of the tooling nicks in the handle and some in the ferrule as well. Finished off with one of my waxed leather-in-Kydex sheathes and ready for some work.

I've always scratched my head at those knives but some like them. You did some good work on the re-build. DM

Very nice! The new handle really looks comfortable to use compared to original.
 :D

The handle is great compared to the factory one. I'm not sure bout the full serrations, but that's why I got it, so I could see how they do for my EDU.

These are pretty acute compared to many - after touching it up they can crosscut newsprint at 90/90 on most or all of the individual serrations. I don't have to draw to cut cardboard - they push right through like a thin slicer. When I do pull, this thing cuts very smooth.

I might have to put this up in a review/testing thread once I have some more time in with it. So far is all good, and I keep improving my rivet peening skills as well! These turned out as neat and uniform as buttons.
