Whats up guys i have a few different mora knives and a cold steel canadian belt knife that i love and use for camp chores. Both the Mora's and the cold steels have around the $15 price point and are good value knives. I think both brands are great and make good knives but I was wondering what you guys think about the two. What do you like better and why?

When i talk about the cold steel knives I'm talking about theres value camp knives like the roach belly and finn bear, or whatever knives you guys have and like or dislike.

To me i think the Mora's are better at slicing and carving. i also like the plastic sheath much more than the nylon sheath. Many people complain about the Mora sheaths but i like them a lot. I think the cold steel roach belly and canadian belt knives are better at food prep. I have nothing to complain about with ether knives. my edge goes to the Moras what do you guys think.

Mora:
Carbon or stainless steel
plastic sheaths
wood handle, plastic handle, or rubber handle
Scandi grind
made in Sweden

Cold steel:
"German" 4116 Stainless steel
nylon sheath
plastic handle
hollow ground
made in Taiwan

and yes i do have to clean and sharpen my mora 2 :)

I have a Cold steel in 4116 and an old Mora laminate....The MORA wins in every way...One of my favourite knives................FES

I have Cold Steel knives in Krupp 4116 and am quite pleased with them. That said, they are no competition to a Mora, in general.

Mora's Triflex and simple carbon steel are to hard to pass up. The Roach Belly is also a superb knife and a nasty slicer. But, since both brands have various styles and quality, it comes down to the steel for me, and that puts Mora up a notch IMO.

But seriously, the Roach Belly is a world-beater, just not a Mora beater.

I have a Finn Bear I bought on a whim when I decided I really like Scandinavian Knives (although the FB isn't a true zero scandi)... It has been used, and then ABUSED as my wife's "garden" knife (light pruning, opening bagged goods likle dirt and mulch, etc.)

I also have 2 Moras that have seen light use. I would say the Finn Bear doesn't hold a candle to Mora on comfort and edge holding.

I have the Finn and The Caniadian Belt Knife and Moras. I definaly like the Moras better, one of my Clippers is my primary carving knife. I also don't see a problem with the sheaths for the Moras.
