Swedish butter knives are a good beginner whittling project. I love them for buttering my raisin bread. Just thinking ahead to the holidays.

I personally love a gift that has been made by someone, the time and thought put into it etc...

Also how about a Mora spoon carving Knife for spoons, bowls and cups?

Something I'm going to purchase and practice carving.

Of course a simple project like this can be done with virtually any knife, but if you need an excuse to buy a Mora, go for it!

I also own a Mora spoon carving knife, which works. A lot of folks will reprofile them, or purchase nicer spoon knives. As a starting point, a Mora spoon knife will help you decide if it is worth investing in nicer gear. I've made a couple of spoons with mine.

Yes agreed I've had a little look and will try the Mora initially to practice with👍

Had a quick research it seems the best over here in the UK available are Ray Iles, Ben Orford and Hans Karlsson so for a little more I'll go with a couple of those.

I've promised the missus bowls and cups for our wild camping trips!
