mora????

i was thinking of getting a mora for skinning purposes. all different types of game. does a mora work for skinning??? deer, antelope, and boar? if they do work. which one should i get?

Anything reasonably thin and sharp will work for skinning. Mora does have a few knives that look to be designed for hunting/skinning purposes: http://www.frosts.se/products/adventure http://www.frosts.se/products/food

I'm not a hunter so I couldn't tell you which one would suit you best, but what I can say with some certainty is that a Mora won't let you down compared to other knives in the same priceclass.

I know the standard Mora "clipper" or "companion" style knives work just fine for game, I even use one for fish instead of a fillet knife.

Take a look at Ragweed Forge. He has just about every Mora you can imagine and yes, they are good hunting, skinning, utility knives (esp for the low price).

The Clipper blade profile will work fine, they are often used as hunting & skinning blades. You have your choice of carbon, stainless and laminated.

They work quite well. I used to work as a hunting guide, we bought them wholesale and used them for everything. If you get one of the wood handled models, make sure that there's no gap between the blade and the handle or you'll get blood/fat/gunk in there and rust the tang (a little epoxy putty will seal it).

I'm sure they would be OK, but I wonder how the edge would hold up to skinning a boar. I'd rather have a steel with better edge retention, like: http://www.barkriverknifetool.com/P-FoxRiver.htm in 3v, albeit, not nearly as affordable as a Mora.
