I was there. Talk about one great guy. How many others were in a state of "Awe"?

Wow Bill gives free standing cutting a whole new meaning. Thanks for posting.

Thank You for sharing them. Nice to see Mr. Moran in good form.

Stay Well

Hey Dan,
The knife was one of his "Camp" knives...about a 11.5" - 12" blade. I kept trying to get a shot of it but every time I got focused on it, he would move it again

. After the session, he met with some of the crowd but I was in a hurry to get to anther meeting.

Incidently for those interested, Bill offers a course on forging blades at Montgomery Technical College in Troy, North Carolina every year (so does several very well known knife makers including Ed Halligan, George Herron, Darrel Ralph, Ron Newton, Jim Batson and others). The classes are priced right and many are offered over the weekends so as to minimize time away from the job. I've taken Bills forging clasa as well as Ed Halligan's grinding class...money very well spent (I'll be there for Mr Herrons folder class and Mr Newtons "Scale release" folder classes this year...not to mention a week long class on "Trigger Design and Function" by Bob Dunlap). Guys, this kind of instruction is getting harder and harder to find so you might want to try and take advantage of it while it's available. If anyone wants more info let me konw and I will post it.

As for Bill, he is really a great resource for information about knives in general and forged blades in specific. And the best thing is...he LOVES sharing his knowledge with people. I'm thankful that I have had a chance to learn from him.

Take care all,

Kidding aside, great pics! I specially love the way the pic was taken just as the rope was sliced cleanly.

Wonderful pictures. Did you use a digital camera or film? That is great stop-action.

Hi Jeff,
The Pics were taken with a Sony Mavica digital (model MVC-FD-91). This particular camera (there are several in the Mavica family), has a 14x optical zoom and uses their "Steady Shot" motion damping system. That way, even someone as "Photographically Challenged" as I can take a halfway decent picture.

Glad everyone enjoys the pics.

Take care,
