Moran on the bay

Well, Riad, I can see why you might say that. That Moran does look beautifiul.

But if I thought you were serious, I would scour every pawn shop from Hackensack to Massapequa. You have some amazing knives, and I'd love a crack at them. (That Moran would fit right into the collection though, wouldn't it?)

:D

I have seen that knife at one of the shows, can't recall which, and it's very nice.
However would never know form the photos.
Strange, no bids. Wonder what the reserve is?

Oh. Is the starting bid in this case the reserve?
I have bid on knives on eBay before and after I have gone over the starting or current bid the report states "you are the current high bider, however the reserve has not yet been met".

$8,000.00 doesn't sound like such a bad price for it, however no bids.....
It's a little risky buying knives on eBay however.......

Interesting knife. Kind of a stubby ST-23? I like the pronounced clip point ... no straight lines ...

Yeww.... That is one ugly knife. I know that it is a very rare opportunity, but that's just not a very nice looking knife.

I was thinking its actually one of the nicer Morans I have seen!

Ugly knife? BITE ME :jerkit:
The knife was one of the ones Bill had at Blade '05. I saw it at the hammer-in, but when I saw it up for raffle, I wasn't sure it was the same one. The fact that it may have been oner of his last personal carry knives makes trhe purchase even more interesting. I'm po' but I'm happy.:D

It looks beautiful, I like the way the blade flows.

But I couldn't buy a knife that expensive. I didn't spend that much on my CAR! lol.

i also found an old beat up Airman fighter from the 60's on Ebay about a month ago. One old, one new and empty wallet. I fixed for Morans now...lol

Yeah, I know. But it was still cheaper than one of the dealers sold a plain ST23 for a couple of months ago and a LOT cheaper than the ABS board knife this year....lol. The original "buy it now" price was $15,000. It didn't sell......didn't even get a bid, so the seller relisted it. I don't plan on selling it. I have done pretty darn well on EBay. I got a sheephorn Jim Walker cowboy bowie for around $300, a P.J. Tomes integral hunter for about the same and a big Robbie Hudson W2 clip point hunter for......wait for it..........$240!!!!!!!!! Also got a Jay Hendrickson hunter with a rather elaborately carved and inlayed curly maple sheath for less that what I paid Jay for a hunter with a plain sheath at the Guild show last year, a really funky Jim Rodebaugh small hunter with an ebony handle and a big Jim Crowell hunter.

Fantastic Congratulations I think you have an exceptionally special piece
if ever......

Thanks. The cool part abpout it is since it is one of his later knives, it has the sheath with the wire under the leather so you get the raised pattern. I met Bill and talked with him for a while at Blade and at Washington in Oct of '05 and even showed him some of my early work at the hammer-in. He was very encourging and kind to a new knifemangler, so there is some extra significance in this purchase.
