I ordered an ST-23 from Bill Moran back in '75 when he had a waiting list of three years as I recall. Needless to say I never received it because Moran was cutting back and teaching more than making. At that time the price was $250.00 if you can believe that...
Anyway, about a year ago I saw a knock-off advertised on eBay. Made in good ol' Pakistan, they claim it was licensed by the Moran estate...anyway for $35.00, I figured I would just hang it on the wall and be done with it. Didn't expect it would be much of a knife.
Got the knife, and was surprised to find it was well-made, hand forged, had a good edge and was polished nicely. Now, there are some gaps at the guard/blade/handle junction that you could drive a semi through...but otherwise it appears to be a good reproduction of the original.
My question is, do any of you out there own one of these, and if so, have you field-tested it in any way? Surprisingly, I suspect it would hold up pretty well.
