I'm curious as to what prices Bill Moran charges nowadays? Say, for a large bowie, maple handle, etc? I wonder if he'll have something for sale at Blade. I would assume that he's going to sell everything in the first 30 seconds...

Bill currently has over a 25 year wait for his knives, there will be some displayed but none for sale unless you buy on the secondary market. The only place to buy a new Moran knife from Bill Moran is the Art Knife Invitational,Bill typically charges approx. high fours low fives for his knives ($4800-$5300 region). Those same knives go on the secondary market for over $10,000 typically,
Hope that helps.

Thanks Dave. I'm disappointed that he won't have anything for sale, but not that surprised. I should have placed an order 25 years ago, when I was 7. That will teach me! :)

Joss, If you are interested in a Moran knife, Dave Ellis always has some available on his website.

Yeah, Mr Moran is one of the greats. I am fortunate enough to own one of his knives, but lately I've been thinking about selling it for financial reasons. (me email address is jhamson@midwest.net) The knives of the pioneers will always be sought after.

One of Bill Moran's most elaborate and largest knives just sold this weekend at the Blade Show by Blue Ridge Knives to Ed Wormser for $25,000.

I recently added a W.F.Moran Lime Kiln Forge spear point bowie to my collection. It still has the 30 year old faded price tag on it which is 4,000. I shouldn't say what I gave for it in case my wife reads this thread some day.
