i got a mora the other day for $9 its one of the cheap models, black plastic sheath, red stained handle, and 4"blade. i see what everyone is talking about, great knife! i was wondering what the steel they make it from is? i got the carbon steel model. im thinking its gotta have a high chromium content, because i havent been able to stain it yet, so far ive slaughtered and gutted a rabbit, carved some oak(which has tannic acid known as a blackening for steel), and cut up some boxes. when i cut around the rabbits feet i went into the bone a little and later noticed little chips in the edge, has anyone else had this problem? could i have a factory second or something? and the steel im thinking might be d-2 or o-1.

Under most circumstances, corrosion resistance + chipping = chromium. Didn't I hear somewhere that Mora uses Sandvik steels?
