Inspired by the recent postings of TonyM and Big Mike, I made my way to New England this weekend on a quest for fall foliage. I went to Macedonia State Park near Kent, CT on Saturday. I hit the trail just as our most recent Nor' Easter was pulling out. There was some rain, some shine, heavy winds and some really wet trails. The foliage was great and well worth the trek.
We started off walking down this old dirt road for a mile or so. The sun had not yet broken out.
Next we started scrambling up to some Mountain tops.
Got to some views.
Did some more hiking and saw some cool stuff. Got lichen?
How about fungi?
More "wicked good" colors (it's a New England thing):
Boom!!!
Stripping some bark off a walking stick with my Breeden Pathfinder.
What a great knife. 5" O1 blade. Orange G-10. Razor sharp and easy to keep that way.
Back down into the woods.
Shelf fungus.
Walking back to the car.
The views were still good on the drive home.
On Sunday I was lucky enough to make it back out to the local woods with my 11 year old son for some mountain biking.
My boy (check out his perfect form):

Thanks for checking out my pics.
Beanbag.
