More bay-was this one worth it?

I guess it was worth it to at least a couple of people who collided.

Collectors.

Who can figure them out?

They got plenty of money, that's for sure.

:)

The rumors I've heard tell me that the single dash is actually harder to find, but that's just rumors.

I wouldn't have payed $184.00 for it(including shipping). It's not old enough to fetch that knid of money. Mabye if it was pre'86.

Then again I'm cheep, I probably would have deleted it from my watch list at $75.00, sorry.

Here's the bottom line:

Some guys will pay a lot for bragging rights.

Or, at least, PERCEIVED bragging rights.

:)

That's a 1992 knife and it's not special at all. That seller is overselling with all the sell words like scarce and vintage and rare. Bullshit!! If the knife was MIB and the box was mint its still only a $75 knife.

When bidders reward these seller with big auction prices, it just encourages them to shovel up a bunch more crap on the heap and tell you its fudge chocolate.

Thats what I figgered, I forget exactly the number but it went from something i was interested in and next I looked it was like $129 and i thought holy crap:eek:. I knew the double dashes were less common but I was thinking along yours and mbs line of pricing. I almost deleted it off my watch a couple times but wanted too see how high it would go.

I'm with Flatlander. I have a couple just like it if that feller wants some more for that kind of price. The guy was a good salesman, though, and had great pictures. Definately a seminar on how to sell on the Bay!!

On the other hand, you seldom see that particular model and configuration on the Bay.

I don't recall seeing one in the last year or two or three.......or at all. A couple of non-finger grooves in mediocre condition, yes......that one, no.

Maybe they are more often seen at knife shows, but a lot of us don't expend the time and effort to go to knife shows and pound those hard floors all day.

So.....I can see why some would pay a little more to get it the easy way.

I do NOT think you can attribute this to mere salesmanship, though. People are not quite that stupid. Collectors just have holes to fill and want to be able to brag to the other collectors......and for many of them, $200 is mere pocket change.

This will be a good time to watch for them, though.

I have a feeling a few are going to turn up for sale.

:D :D :D

That makes the $15 I paid for an unsharpened non fg at the flea market last month look pretty good.

I'll take a dozen MIB's at that $75 mark:D

I watched that one from the word go-its opening price was steep if I remember correctly

Yea he opened with $135. Now for a $96 dollar knife a few years ago, that start was about my max. I do like the Indigo blue and love those BG42 blades but that was to much for me on that knife especially concidering he didn't have the CS card on the knife.

+1 Flat-my thoughts exactly.

The magic of BG-42!!!

:D

Everybody with BG-42 is hanging onto it.......so prices go up.

Yeah.....no sense buying at the highest price.

UNLESS.....prices are going to go even HIGHER!!!

:D
