Bret Dowell drop point shadow Trapper with green linen micarta handles.

Bret, did a nice job on this knife. If you look at the pictures. He raised the handles to almost cover the blade tang. Which makes it more pocket friendly. Fit and finish as always excellent. Back spring is maybe .002 low with the blade closed. Otherwise this knife is almost perfect.

Handles green linen micarta.
Steel ATS34.
Blade thickness .080 .
OAL closed 3 3/8
Blade length 2 3/4. Bret gets a lot of blade in his handles.
Hollow ground to .010 behind the edge.
Snap is firm but not hard, just about perfect.
Blade has a half stop.
Stainless liners and pins.
Handles taper from .360 at the pivot to .410 at the butt.
If you hold it up to a light , no light comes through the backspring.

Shadow Swayback with orange G10 handles.

Bret calls this a small Swayback. Like the Trapper blade tang is almost covered by the handles. It has a much more pronounced swedge which really sets it off IMHO. Fit and finish is as good as it gets in this price range. Blade is flush in all three positions. Snap and blade centering are perfect.

Handles orange G10.
ATS34
Blade thickness .070 .
OAL Closed 3 1/8
Blade length 2 3/8
Handle tapers from .340 at the pivot to .400 at the butt.
Hollow ground to .014 behind the edge. Nice wharncliff blade.
Snap is just right , walks and talks.
If you hold it up to a light , no light comes through the backspring.
Stainless liners pins and washer.

Both are very nice Larry, but I love the profile of the Swayback, and I agree with you on the swedge

Absolutly, totally awesome!

I'm not sure why, but I find myself more and more drawn to simple things as I aged. Shadow pattern folders are one of those things.

I love the elegant simplicity of those knives. Looking at them is a great lesson in why less is sometimes more.

Elegantly understatd beauty.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Yes, damn nice knives, I particularly appreciate that covered tang aspect, really saves the trouser pockets!
