After reading some previous posts about blade breakage and tang annealing, I pulled out my BUCKMASTER to take a look. I suspect it is pretty old as it has no date stamp on the blade.

The only markings on the knife are as follows:

184 U.S.PAT 4622707 (left side)
BUCKMASTER (right sided)

Do I have anything to worry about?

Please forgive me if I have committed any blunders. This is the first time I have used any forum. Guess that makes me a newbe. Be kind

Hello Mike,
Welcome to the Forum! Don't worry about making any "mistakes" here. You have a long was to go before you catch me!
You do not have anything to worry about in regards to your Buckmaster being tang annealed. We started the operation quite a few years before yours was made.
Take care,

Joe,

Thanks for the info. Just for my edification, when do you think my 184
was made. Since the date codes started in '86, is 1985 a good guess?

Mike
