Daggerr Parrot



SAK Tinker for scale.
Sting in the middle.
Parrot is large; from fipper to glass breaker its 6".
Same G10 for scales and same funky skull clip.
I believe the blade rides on bearings so it flips fairly well.



About 4.25" of cutting edge.
It's a liner lock with a twist: the button depresses the liner to close.
Looking at it, it's deceptively simple. Wonder why no one thought if it before; or maybe someone did and I just don't know about it. Which may be the case since I don't shop folders too much.
Early lock up, like the Sting, a hefty swing and wrist action will deploy the blade but not a safety concern. The Parrot in fact will swing out easier considering all that steel thats moving.
The clip is held in place by the glass breaker and a screw on the side; simple but effective. Could look cheap but done nicely.



I got this for I wanted a honkin' folder and that's what I got: a honkin large folder!
Not exactly light; it's a shorts hanger for sure.
Be careful where you're flipping it open: leave yourself a ton of space so you don't hook something.
Worth it? yep.
I carry the Sting a ton; don't expect to wield the Parrot too much. Maybe special occasions.
If you need a large folder I'd recommend it.

Wonder why no one thought if it before; or maybe someone did and I just don't know about it. Which may be the case since I don't shop folders too much.

I know Kershaw has a push-button liner lock model, but I can't remember the name. Plus the Spyderco Smock, but in reverse I guess as it's a compression lock. Definitely not too common, though.

The weird blade shape necessitated by putting a big button in the blade path bugged me on the Smock. I could choose between so-so ergos close to the edge or good ergos too far from the edge; neither satisfied me. Does the Parrot feel like that?

I know Kershaw has a push-button liner lock model, but I can't remember the name. Plus the Spyderco Smock, but in reverse I guess as it's a compression lock. Definitely not too common, though.

Not sure what you mean as I have yet to hold a Spyderco compression lock.
If you look good at the pics, the flipper tab just clears the button shaft on opening and closing. Fully closed the button shaft sits in the finger choil.
I like the position, it's similar to where the axis lock slider sits.
The size of blade plus the bearings (if there are bearings) allows the blade to just drop.
Don't have to shift your hand too much to open, hold, and close.
I have no complaints.

I have to add: when goofing around with this knife, you really have to make sure you have an open path to fully deployed. Scale to tip is tad over 4.5" which is a bit more than I'm used to.

Ah okay, I read your other post about the ergos.

It is a big knife so I don't know how it will fit your hand:



The scales are 6" long so I think the finger groove tells your had where to go. It is aways from the blade.
Or you can choke up for more control:



Just goofing around with it, I have no issues with the regular grip.
For one thing, it has good balance; the center is just towards the rear in the finger groove.
The Sting is in the same place so perhaps its a design thing.

Benchmade had the Nak-Lok which was a type of button operated liner lock too.
