Folks,
I am sorry to have missed the group on line on Friday. I went inside to get some paperwork for the Guild just as they started the preview. Once inside I didn't look back! I *missed* a bunch of great guys on line. (NOT!!!
What would YOU have done???)
I did a little bit of damage to my accounts, but walked away quite pleased. On Friday I found a couple of folders from an obscure maker that I really like collecting: Hill Pearce. They are both fairly old and have cracks in the shrinking wood scales, but the workmanship is his style and the price was VERY reasonable for me ($175 each). Rehandling them is probably in their future. Here's a couple of views:

Secondly, I took advantage of a folder that was offered to Steve Fecas as a 'trade-up' for one of his own knives. It is from Fred Durio, and has all the good stuff. The action, fit, and materials are all top-level. Plus, I nearly stole it! Check this out:
Lastly I spent some time with lister Aaron Frederick. He is John W. Smith's son-in-law, and so he has a great mentor. His knives show it. On Sunday he had only a couple of very ornate and worthy folders with his damascus and pearl and gold and more. He also brought a bunch of his 'dress tacticals'for lack of a better term. There is a magic about a folder that has such ease of opening and precision about it that is compelling. He has captured this magic. I was especially intrigued by the shape of one of them and couldn't stop myself from admiring it among all the other similar styles. In the end he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I offer you a look to see what I mean:
You will appreciate more of the show, as I took a BUNCH of photo's of maker's and knives. Here's a look at them.
