I picked up the cord at Eastern Mountain Sports and pulled the core out of the center. With the center left in, the cord was too thick. It actually sat so far inside the handle that the blade would cut into it. With the core pulled out, there is clearance room between the cord and the blade. He are the wrapping steps:
1. Get about a four-foot length of very thin Para cord and pull out the center core.
2.Burn the ends of the cord with the lighter, trying to make the burned ends as small as possible.
3. Remove the EDCs handle.
4. Pull the cord through the top holes in the handle, closest to the blade, with an even amount of cord sticking out each side of the knife.
5. Poke the cord inside the handle and loosely pull through the next hole on the same side. Alternate the sides of the handle as you go along, until youve gotten all the way to the last hole. If you have problems poking the cord through, try using a tiny screwdriver to help push the ends through the holes.
6. Tighten all of the loops youve made so far. You want as tight a weave as you can get.
7. Poke each of the tag ends into the handle as you did before, but run them under the bottom pin and back out through the lanyard holes. You should now have two lengths of cord sticking out from the lanyard holes.
8. Tie a hangmans noose like on a Sebenza or other lanyard knife.
9. Trim the ends and reburn them.
10. Screw the clip back on.
Thats it!!! The whole operation takes about a half hour. It gives the EDC an even nicer grip (not that the original grip wasnt perfect), and customizes the looks to your own taste.
