That's my mom in the very first photo. I like her expression and pose, obviously related to the size of the beast that my dad just shot.

Congrats to your dad!!!! That is a beast and both sides have a awsome whale tail!!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Your mom looks stunned.

You may have said this before, but I'm too lazy to go look for it. What is the knife on your dad's belt?

Great pics, love seein Elk. Been one of my favorite critters to go after, especially when there bugaling.

Wow that is a huge elk! I guess his freezer will be stuffed with meat for some time.

She's no doubt thinking about their freezer situation, as in a severe lack of space.

What he was carrying, and what he used to dress his elk, was the larger of the two knives shown below:

It is made by Bob Ham, and has a six-inch blade. My dad's definition of a proper knife handle is that it is made out of stag or stag, and if stag isn't an option, then stag is acceptable. ;)

My grandfather sounds exactly the same, he has a few hunting knives and there all stag. Along with most of his slipjoints, He said he'd like a Busse if they came in Stag:D

thought i would say congrats! elk season opens here (montana) on sunday, maybe his friend will come my way soon! i got a 5x5 last season-the pressure is on!!! nice knives too. i, as your dad prefer stag.

Oh wow.

Fantastic pics and thanks for sharing!

Ham makes a real honest (value, quality, function) knife. :)
