Some of you my recall some unsafe khukri handling pictures posted by Kamui a few months ago. These are from the same camping trip.

Me taking apart an old wooden crate. Poor little bugger never stood a prayer against my Sher made 3 pound AK

Standing in the background is Coronach.

I'll post more later.

If any physics experts can explain this, I'll appreciate it.

Notice how you can barely see the blade of the khukri. There's no "blur" as you can see the outline of the blade, and it's not the mirror finish reflecting the grass, because you can see right through into Mike's legs.

I will attribute this to my blinding hand speed unless someone corrects me

Tom,

Looks like we need a camera person more than a physics person. Looks to me like that's a flash picture. The actual amount of time that a subject is lit up by a flash is much shorter than the amount of time the shutter is open. The flash "freezes" most any motion because of that very short duration. In this case it appears that the flash froze the body and hand but had trouble illuminating the blade (because of the angle probably). Then the flash went out and the film continued to be exposed. The relatively unexposed place where the blade _was_ then became exposed to the bright pants in the background. If the blade had been totally square to the camera it wouldn't have happened because the flash would have printed it on the film so firmly that nothing else would have shown through.

Neat pix Tom ---How does the handle fit your hand? (That's an 18"er right?) I've thought of getting one of those when I clean up my debt's.

You can't tell by the pic, but I'm actually swinging cross body, so my foot was pretty safe... besides, I had Band-Aids

Jay, the handle fits great in my hand... it's almost too heavy for me. It really is almost 3lbs and a little over 1/2" thick at it's widest. I'm 5' 10" 190lbs, so it's just on the outer threshold of my strength limit. If it was a Sirupati, I'd probably carry it everyday.

I did notice that the frog and scabbard are really nice, but the frog is too big for such a heavy knife. Swings all over the place when looped thru my belt. It has earned a place as the weapon I grab to investigate noises at night. The only thing I would replace it with is a Remington 870

Nope, I think that I will make Tom my deputy....hehe
