I am doing my best. Keep in mind that some of the winning knives were commissioned and taken home and not seen by the public. The knives were submitted first thing in the morning on Friday and released at the end of the show Friday evening many were taken home immediatly without haveing been on public display. I will try to get as many shots as I can tomorrow. Sunday is usually my picture day. I took these while wandering around in-between placing orders for next year and helping to man a table and a booth for friends. It is hard to believe what it is like. The place was jammed today not to mention I have been going on about 5 hours of sleep since Thursday night.

I should be able to get a few of them tomorrow.

Planning on catching some good zzz's this evening

Thanks Gus!

I think it especially interesting that PJ won the 'most inovative' award this year (and last) for unique 'traditional' sort of folders. PJ does not try to copy the old pattern so much as improve them. Was this folder in 52100 or something else? I can't wait to see his latest well engineered and well made construction.

Sounds like Rich Rogers stole the show. And congrats also to Baily Bradshaw for making Mastersmith, and winning the Best Handforged award.

Wish I was there...

Gus,

First off, thanks for all of the info. I could not make it to the show this year, and I really miss being there.

Regarding the award for best "New Maker", are you sure the name is "Neilson", and not Nihiser? There is no listing in the table assignments for a Neilson". I do know for a fact that Patrick R. Nihiser entered a knife for best new maker.

I sure hope it is Patrick R. Nihiser, 'cause then I can say "I told you all to watch this guy"

I already have one of his knives, and am awaiting an order of "numerous" others in about a month.

Please try to find out ASAP, otherwise I might catch a coranary due to the suspense.

Gus,
Thanks for the all the info. Missing the Show this year ranks right up there with missing the Daytona 500 several years ago due to the flu

Thanks folks, as Phil said in the other post it is the people that make this such a wonderful passtime for me. It was great getting to meet so many of you and I look forward to meeting many more in the future.
It is amazing how differences can melt into friendships.

I know I hacked the names of many of the award winners and A.B.S. 'inductees' (trying to read Steve's and Bill's handwriting was as hard as reading mine

. The show closed at 4:00 today it is always sad to say goodbye to close friends and new ones.
After helping a few folks pack up I just got home. I will add more as the week goes on and will also post some of the goodies that I picked up.

Para, P.J's knife was a trip. I will try to come up with a more lucid description once I can be a little more lucid. It is hard to describe the feeling of the end of 3 and 1/2 solid days of knife mania. Your feet hurt, eyes look like you have been on an long binge and the brain is overloaded.

Sorry Richard, I am pretty spent and added that P.S. to your post in error.
