I got my Scandinavian Forest Axe and Carvers axe yesterday. Both by Lennart Peterson. Both show good grain and perfect alignment. As you can see the handle on the carver's axe is milled in some way for texture. This is now available on Iltis axes and some replacement handles for larger axes. I'm not a great fan of textured handles for large axes but on the carver's axe it feels great.
Notice the imperfection on the handle of the carver's axe - it's no big deal and will easily be fixed with a little sanding.
Just a note to say to have someone choose the axes for you if possible as I did. I wasn't bothered by the handle imperfection - but some of the SFA's didn't have good grain. The one I got has perfect grain.
