Ok so i read the 1 book that has come in and am thinking it was designed for some 1 a litle farter along then me . Is angle iron good for making anything? i have access to alot of it free. 2 pieces are 20 ft long with 4inch by 4 inch. now i plan on making one of those round forges to heat up my metal but not sure why im heating it up? to make it softer to work with? If one forges there blades close to finish shape is a belt grinder needed or is hand files ok ? what kinda files i need? think on the search i did alot like nicholson?. also if u are forged and doing the oil quench deal do u also temper it in an oven or no? i can go on and on and think ill be starting on my first few tries when i get back from my week trip to illionios. thanks again

Dakota11 - You need to take a little more time and sit down with a few books on knife making. You won't be needing a forge until you know what to do with it,and what it does for you.Angle iron is mild steel and can be used in building your equipment, but not for making knives.I would get Wayne Goddard's,"The $50 Knife Shop" to read. There is a lot of info at www.knifehow.com . Your very best bet is to find a maker near you who can show you a few things. You haven't let us know where you are,so no one can offer to have you over.

Im located in Sacramento, California. from the map were every1 is im along way from all from all of u. Looks like 2 in the bay area but i dont go there for any reason. Most of u are on the east coast.

There are some makers listed in the B.A.K.C.A. list. I don't know if the info is current, though, and it's tedious to go through the list by address. Maybe it's of some help.

well for some reason i cant find addresses from that link. and all the forums are blank to me . thinnking i have to join and give up 25 dollars. not sure if that is the case. Hate to waste 25 dollars on a search that may yield nothing. hopefully my other books come in before i leave this weekend. thanks for the link just wish i could get info of it. that knife how link is good also but i read for hrs and my head is spining when im done. think it tim for a video once i see one made ill be home free then .
