I've had this for a few days and just now got around to taking some pictures. It's a Merle Haggard commemorative, #102 of 1500, or so the COA states. The wood in the handles is so dark, you can barely make out any grain and sure doesn't look like the laminate that's used.

The polished blade has the date stamp for 1990 but the blade is etched "Buck Knives Inc., 1992.

I don't have too much luck finding the info on this kind of knife, so I hope someone (jb4570?) can help me out. What kind of wood was used and were there really 1500 made?

You find the best stuff Dave!

That is a 1992 issue as you said. Catalog #1946, List states that the knife will have a 1990 tang stamp (go figure), Brass frame, and Ebony handle. There is a Roy Clark just like that one, But, has a Custom stamp on the blade.

:thumbup:Thanks John, I knew you would come up with the answer if anyone would! I've seen the Roy Clark model, but never sprung for one. I may now.

As an aside, I saw a show of Roy's several years ago and the guy is just one heck of an intertainer. It was at our county fair and his show was on one of the free stages. I'd have paid alot to see it although I'm not a country music fan at all. After the show, he came down into the audience and shook hands and visited with the people in the audience for quite awhile. Great guy.
