More good news

I've been tryign to seduce him to make somethign for me back in the day (liek 2 years ago) to no avail.. then again money talks and I had very little then :p.

In talking to Walter Erickson one afternoon, he informed me that he machined all the handles for Mr. Turnbull's balis. Since Ralph's move to Florida from the midwest and Mr. Erickson's move from Warren, MI. to points north, maybe they've lost touch. I've got a couple of Ralph's knives and Mr. Erickson's, too, and they do make a great team! ;)

I went to my very first blade show this past month and got to handle a Turnbull and an Erickson bali. As if I need to tell you, they were _very_ nice knives. The Turnbull had a bowie style blade that was about an inch wide; a very big blade. The handles were brass with what the dealer said was a resin scale made to look like some type of mineral(stone)... all for only three hundred bones. It looked so nice I felt I shouldnt be holding it. While still in a daze from holding a turnbull custom, I pass by a older woman in front of a small case of knives. She comments on my shirt Im wearing (it said "Mollys", a name of a bar I frequented in college. She said her daughter's name is Molly) then I look down at her case and say oh look a butterfly knife and before I know it a beutiful Erickson bali with a mirror polished blade and polished SS handles with MOP scales and fancy engraving on the backs of the handles is in my grubby hands. Holding back the drool she told me she is asking 625. Again, Im feeling that Im not worthy to be holding such a fine blade, as funny as that sounds.....

Well, I left the show with a Manila Folder and a Kamakazi by Valor. Not bad for my first show, but next time I wont show up late on the last day of the show.

thanks for letting me share ;) and post more pics of turnbulls and ericksons
