Well, first off it's been almost a year since I found and joined this site. What a great resource of people and talent. So what do you get after being here for almost a year. You go from this, 1st real knife made

I think this is my cleanest design yet and certainly my best grinding. I will post when it's finished and I think it will be very nice. Thank you to everyone here for helping me and all the other new/wannabe knife makers.

Excellant work so far :) I expect that your a weekender / spare time maker like myself? May I offer a few suggestions?
1) Use a file guide. for grinding your plunges. These are EASILY made. It will sharpen your plunge lines.

2) Round off the edges of your handles. a square handle like those will cause blisters. I round and blend all mine with a Bastard File, whether it's bone, wood, or micarta a file takes it off fast enough to be easy, but slow enough to catch and fix a mistake before it gets too far out of hand.

3) more of an opinion thing, but when I grind a "companion" (Fixed Blade EDC) type knife, I start with 1-1/4" wide stock (thickness is up to you) but put a slightly forward blade design on it. kinda like the blade pictured below. IMHO it gives it better aesthetics and ergonomics in most of the uses for a blade.

Isn't it exciting to see yourself growing and learning? That's just ONE of the things that make knife making so addicting to me. Thanks for sharing.

Wow nice man. I just started tonight on my third knife, and at the risk of getting all deep and shit, I'm positive that I have found my thing. I've always been an instant gratification type of dude and this is the one thing I've been able to work at and take my time to get to where I'm going.

Really like your stuff though. I want to see more.
