Good Morning All,

As a follow-up to my Husky 30-06 post, I have a few other gun related questions that pertain to dating with serial numbers and models. The other guns I am inheriting are:

1 - Arizaga 12 ga, side by side
2 - Remington Model 600 .350
3 - S&W Model 28 .357

Any info you guys have would be great!

Cheers

Hi,

What would like to know?

A little I can say is the Arizaga SxS was an inexpensive Spanish made shotgun. My recollection is they were first imported around the early 70's. I am unaware of any catalog listings past the mid 70's. The maker, it's self was out of business by 1987. They are generally considered to be of average or less quality. Bad firing pins being the primary complaint. And unreliable single selective triggers. But most Spanish guns of the 60's and 70's are generally considered 2nd quality guns. Much as the Turkish made ones are today.

If you do a google search, you will find that the Remington 600 was a handy little carbine produced from 1964 to 1967 with 94,086 made. In calibres 222 Remington, .223 Remington, 6mm Remington, 6.5mm Remington, .308 Win, .35 Remington, .350 Remington Magnum. A childhood friend had one in .350 Rem Mag. It was my first lesson in the knowledge that a belt on the case doesn't make it a magnum.

Like Quigly from Downunder, I have little use for handguns. So I will not comment on the S&W 28

I have not much to add except that the Model 28 is just a plain Jane version of the Model 27. It's a heavy large frame revolver (N frame) and pleasant to shoot with heavy .357 loads.

We have some boxes of Remington ammo for the 600. I don't remember if they are 6.5 or .350. I'll take a look when I get to the shop.

The 600 was never very popular. I don't think people liked the rib. There was a model without the rib called the Mohawk. Remington later came out with the 660. It was basically the same rifle without the rib and a longer barrel.. It did a lot better and is more valuable today.

Hi,

Yeah I think the plastic rib wasn't real inspiring back then. It always kind of reminded me of the Nylon 66 I had.
