Here's two more hawks made from old claw hammers ...these also have the old ships cargo hatch cover mahogany hafts.

Two fine lasses will be borrowing these hawks tomorrow (Sat) to use as part of their costumes at the Scottish Games in Woodland CA.

The third (upside down) hawk in the photos is the original 'prototype' hammer hawk posted earlier.

Shown with their heavy leather sheaths.

Oops, forgot the specs...
Hawk on the left:
forged from 16 oz(?) claw hammer
OAL - 20 1/2"
head length - 7 1/8"
spike length - 3"
edge length - 2 3/4"

Hawk on the right:
forged from 13 oz claw hammer
OAL - 20 1/4"
head length - 6 1/2"
spike length - 2 1/2"
edge length - 2 3/4"

Here's three fine lasses dressed up for the Scottish Games and adorned with J. Criquet cutlery. Complete with authentic Border Collie :)

You know, I'll bet scottish women really DID go armed like that. My compliments to the ladies as well as the hawk maker. ;) :D

Thanks for the kind words. They had such a good time yesterday at the Scottish Games that they are going back today :)

No problem. I heated the blade portion up to temperature as per the specs for tool steel, let them sit there at that temp for about 15 minutes, then quenched in oil. Double tempered at 425 degrees for two 1 hour intervals, air cool after each temper cycle. Both turned a nice pale straw color.

Again, thanks for the nice compliments.
