Here's some information I found, about the next few episodes about this show. This looks like this show might be very nice.

The information might include some spoilers, so some of you might not want to see this:

Airing Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. This season will have 13 episodes. However, the network may increase the number depending on ratings. Note: We will count the pilot as being episode 1.01 (known as "fan episode numbering") instead of following production numbering (where the pilot is 1.00).

09/01 - Episode 1.01 - Pilot (aka The First 17 Hours) [Airing September 20]: Jake Green returns to the town of Jericho for a quick visit with his family and tells friends and family that he has either been in the Army or in the Navy or working on a mysterious project. He is then driving away when disaster in the form of a mushroom cloud hits in the distance. He turns around and ends up being a hero.

09/01 - Episode 1.02 - Fallout [Airing September 27]: When Jake leads a procession of people to the Jericho City Hall's basement fallout shelter, Jake's brother, Eric, will stop him, telling him there isn't enough room for everyone. It is then suggested that they use the mine at the edge of town. Source: Sci Fi Wire

09/07 - Episode 1.03 - Four Horsemen [Airing October 4]: Jake organizes a group to gather more information about the explosions after a satellite television in the local bar broadcasts a signal from an Asian news program shows the extent of the nuclear attacks. In addition to the television broadcast, Stanley, who is hospitalized for radiation poisoning, claims to have seen tanks headed toward Denver. With Jericho still cut off from communication and the people craving information, Jake recommends sending four search parties out in different directions to get a sense of what is going on outside of town. Meanwhile, when one of the inhabitants of the mine seeking shelter during the fallout dies unexpectedly, Heather questions the cause of his death. Source: CBS

09/07 - Episode 1.04 - Walls Of Jericho [Airing October 11]: A map is hung on the wall that shows which major cities have been hit. Gas becomes a much wanted/needed commodity. Source: Television Without Pity

09/11 - Episode 1.05 - Federal Response: Children begin returning to school and an accident with a downed power line happens out on the playground when the power comes back on. Fires begin at the library and the town worries about them spreading. Jake and his mother argue about his past and a big secret that he hasn't told his father. Dale is relieved when Gracie claims she won't let Children's Services put him in foster care.

09/14 - Episode 1.06 - 9:02: Jake runs into Mitchell Cafferty, an obvious old "friend" turned "enemy." Hawkins comes in and interrupts a heated discussion between the men. The police are overwhelmed with people reporting crimes. Later, Mitchell, who has stolen Gail's horses, holds Jake hostage with a gun and Jake is rescued by Jimmy and Eric, as Mitchell escapes on horseback.

I predict (sadly) that this show wont last long , most Americans prefer American Idle type stuff , shows like this would make them use thier brains too much.
Just a thought.

Rebeltf,

I hope you're wrong, but it is a possibility. Still, relatively dark shows like LOST and 24 have made it recently, so who knows? Jericho is clearly not a simple counterfeit of last season's big hits, whatever they were...

Anyhow, there's always a DVD release if it *does* fold early and there are unaired eps!

LOST and 24 , you know.... you have a damn good point there :) Good call.

So far - so good. It has already shown how quickly some will begin to panic and turn to looting. Many of the townspeople have armed themselves.

Surprisingly enough, they even show knives in a good light. Jake ended up using his (what looked to be) bone-handled slip joint to give a school girl an emergency tracheotomy when she was injured on the bus.

I did catch an ant-gun poster hanging in the police station.

I'll hang on for a couple more episodes. Its better than dancing with the stars :jerkit:

I think the show has a great deal of potential. I watched the first eipisode and liked it overall. I like the fact that information is very limited, as it would be, and the story line will grow as time and more information is gained. If they knew that many cities were nuk'd right now, things may develop differently in the macro-scale. I am just going to ride with it.

Watched this evening, seems like it may be alright it will be micro-scale ..
might have got me more interested if it was a two hour pilot.

I was a little disappointed by the first episode because it didn't "grab" me the way a show like "Lost" or "Battlestar Galactica" did from the very first episode. I don't think a show can afford a slow start in the market today, even if it's for the sake of later episodes ... because those episodes may never get a chance.

I believe you have to cut the show a bit of a break when it comes to "grabbing" your interest and attention. First, it was done from the perspective of the town and it (I think) fairly accurately showed just how disorganized a town would be in the event of a nuclear attack. They introduced the characters and went from there. It should have been a 2-hour show the first week out though as the longer movie format provides more time to set things up for what is to come.

I actually thought this week's ep (ep 2) was even better than the pilot -- much faster paced, lots of excitement, and some great discussion of the dangers of fallout and the ways in which you can protect yourself.

From my reading of fallout preparedness manuals (from the US government and things like the SAS survival guide), it seems the info they dispensed was correct.

(You can see the second ep, or the pilot, for free on the CBS Web site.)
