A beautiful array of obsidian knives, wouldn't you agree?

I spent some time talking with Errett Callahan about his knives - the centerpiece was submitted for the fantasy category of the competition. Fascinating work and a fascinating maker.

Ahhh!! Flashbacks to archaeology classes filled with classmates clutching bleeding hands after trying our hands (no pun intended) at flintknapping. That stuff is so much harder than it looks, and it looks amazing.

Yvsa - these were "prickly sharp" - and I think you know what I mean.

Errett does amazing work. Turns out, he lives in VA - but about 4 hours away - too far for a day trip...

I was so impressed with the clarity of his work. I really like the mini skinner too (in the pic with the stained glass knife).
