After seeing Dan's ironwood I just had to share some ironwood I picked up at the Blade Show in Atlanta also! (A big thanks to Mike Hull for the reminders on how nasty and dangerous working with this wood can be!) I almost like the stabilized amboynia burl I picked up more than the ironwood.

And here is some golden amboynia (sorry for the poor scans):

I'm sold. I'll get some next order to Sheffield or wherever. I already have some Thyua birds eye burl(probably misspelled that) and another type of burl in the mail. I also have some micarta, black ebony and a piece of African paduak (probably misspelled that one too). I also will be getting some mammoth in a few weeks.

Thanks for sharing those examples. As a rifle stock nut I guess I gravitate towards the fancy woods and your samples do fulfill that.

Whoa, that's quite a collection of handle material you've got going there Roger! The Amboynia burl is much nicer looking than the scans I made. Maybe next year I'll pick out some stabilized Thuya burl. As it is I've now got way more handle material than knife projects planned!
