Watchig Kick-Ass, in an early scene a little girl tells her dad she wants a "Benchmade model 42 butterfly knife." too bad they're disco'd... Little later they show her Bali, and it's not a 42.

Where else have you seen knives or knives referenced in movies? Specific knives if possible.

Thanks!

Thomas Jane takes out a guy with an Emerson karambit towards the end of Punisher. I'll see if I can track down a screenshot.

Edit: Here's a good shot of it. He uses a reverse grip and slashes the guy's throat as the guy comes around a corner. He's also attacked earlier in the movie by a guy with a Spydero Civilian.

I wonder what sort of research the authors use to get their idea's for knives. What do they do to find the knife? Do they get on a forum like these and look around, do they go to a knife store and ask? I just thought it was amusing that they referenced the Benchmade by name in Kick-Ass.

there was one post in another forum asking about a feminine looking knife for a kick ass heroine. of course I suggested the pink izula. i wonder how that turned out the OP didn't even thank for the input.

I was watching an episode of Criminal Minds the other day and the FBI agents were going through the notebook of the crazy bad guy. In the pages of his scribbled rantings you can see a sketch of a knife. It's a Benchmade or HK Snody design, I'm guessing a Resistor or 14200/14900. Can't tell for sure but it's definately Snody'ish and you can clearly make out the axis lock.

Well . . . Not a movie. But worth mentioning.

In the NCIS episode "Missing," DiNozzo uses a single-edged Bowen belt-buckle knife to escape from the underground cell along with a missing EOD specialist.

It's the only time I've seen a Bowen belt-buckle knife used in a positive way in either a TV series or movie.

The Edge, one of my favorite movies. and not just because a knife figures into it

The Edge, one of my favorite movies.

And a damn nice one too.

I think (Pulitzer prize winning writer) David Mamet must be a knife guy. Survival in The Edge depends on a knife. In The Spanish Prisoner, a man is killed, framing the main character with a knife he had in the Boy Scouts. In House of Games The main character steals Joe Mantegna "lucky knife". And in Spartan Val Kilmer's pocket knife is a custom Severtech auto (made right here in Tucson). Oh yeah, in Heist, Danny DeVito whips out a Benchmade auto.

and not just because a knife figures into it
Alec Baldwin dies. Always a good movie when this happens.

Hannibal Lector has a preference for Spydercos as well.

Hannibal... LECTHOOR!

Latest find: I checked couple episodes of 'Sons Of Anarchy' (I gave up when I noticed it's just another series that goes on forever like any american series) where the main character "EDC's" Ka-Bar USMC (I think It's USMC anyway). I wonder if it's big enough for everyday tasks?

Ya Jax uses a USMC. And Opie carries one of the cold steel knives.

What does disco'd mean?
