Hello all, I'm pretty sure that this question hasn't been covered, if so, just point me in the right direction. I just got some Militec-1 recently, so I followed the process on Mr. Gollnick's site, and have so far done two applications of the stuff, one on Monday, and one last night. I plan on applying it a couple more times within the next week. My question is, once you apply Militec-1 for the last time, how long is it good for? Do you EVER have to apply it again? I have definetely noticed a difference today after the secong application, I now have butter-bali :D . My girlfriend is worried because she thinks it'll make it swing around much faster and I'll end up slicing myself to peices ;). So, does this stuff wear off, and if so, how long does it last for you? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Peace,
George

Well I dont think there is a "last time." I have miltec-1 my bm42a about 8 times (the way clay miltec's his)and I do it about every couple of weeks. Or whenever it feels like that it needs it. I hope I helped.:D

Anybody in here ever hear of White Lighting? It's a heck of all lot cheaper and alot easier to use than mil-tech. No heating or reapplying, works just as good if not better. Oil and synthetic lubes such as mil-tech collect dirt, white lighting is a self-cleaning lube, with a wax base, that doesn't collect dirt and pocket lint. I've tried mil-tech and I've used white lighting for about a year now and I'm quite satisfied with it, I use it on all my knives. But don't just take my word for it check it out for yourselves. www.whitelightningco.com I'm no company rep just a knife nut:)

Each application of Militec-1 seems to last about twice as long as the previous up to about three or four months. Your results will vary depending on how often you play with your balisong, your technique, etc.

As for White Lightening, it's made of wax. I don't think I need to say more. Militec-1 does not attract dirt. Once you allow the carrier to evaporate overnight and then maybe mop up any excess, the joint is dry. That's one of the things I love about it. It doesn't drip out on the handles. White Lightening was made for bicycle chains which are constantly exposed to terrible dirt. The wax surrounds the dirt particles and they they work out of the joints. For a bike chain, that's good.

I have a really NEAT stiff-framed racing bike.., and I do use White Lightening and some exotic Euro-stuff on the chain :)

Balisong knives ~~~> Militec

Accept no substitute ;)....until there is something better!
