Here are some additional pictures of things I did within the last couple of days. I'm forcing a patina on my cold steel Hawks and some of my other hatchets.

Here's a few additional pictures. The first two pictures in my first post are of an old Plum hatchet. The blade is offset and flat on one side to allow one to square a log's side. It's also great for skinning bark off branches, etc. The second two pictures are pictures of my Cold Steel (American Tomahawk) Trail Hawk. It's my first time using paracord; so, guys - please go easy on me - OK? The last picture in the first post and the first picture in this post are of my custom throwing hawk that I've had since the early seventies. I did a complete paracord wrap on the haft.

Then the second picture is of and inexpensive hatchet that I paid $8 for that I refurbished. And finally, the last three pictures are of a walking stick I made for my SIL out of chokecherry wood.

I re-wrappwd the handle of my old hawk. I just didn't like the job I did on it the first time. It's much tighter now and has a cleaner look up around the head. I'm really digging using this 550 paracord. It makes great handles on hatchets and walking sticks. Vec - you do some really wonderful things with paracord.

BTW, thanks for the good words guys!

Real Nice Work Teague, I like them all, But that Axe/Hatchet In the Top picture on the Left Is a Beauty ! Beautiful Job on all of them, Thank's for sharing the picture's,

Thanks Wolf!

Snake - That Plumb had the carving on the handle before I got it. So, I just refinished it. The blade is offset and is flat on the back. I think it is used for hewing logs to get the sides square. It already had a nice patina on it and very little rust. I appreciate your interest and comments. Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I'm currently working on some old hammers now. If you like, I could post those pictures too.

Teague you are doing some very nice refurb. on these pieces. Now they will be around for many more years....Thanks for the pics

Teague, I am going to paracord wrap one of mine. Which do you prefer, gutted paracord or 550 left plain? Also should I soak the paracord first to get it to tighten as it dries?

I just use plain 550 paracord and I don't soak it either. I just wrap it as tight as I can. I've been making some paracord bracelets and they are going like hotcakes. I gusee I better start charging for them. Ha Ha! (I'm using a Cobra weave and some modified weaves on them.)

Hey Snake - I'll post some pictures of the axes and hammers I've done tomorrow (8/5/2009) along wirh some of my bracelets and my other Cold Steel hawk.

I gave my three oldest grandsons' an old scout hatchet each that I refurbished. They were sure excited to get them.

For my birthday, my kids bought me a variable speed Delta 6" bench grinder and my wife bought me a Craftsman 4X32 belt sander. So, I'm now better prerared to do more of the metal work and sharpening myself. Sometime soon, I'm going to actually make my first knife. Life is so exciting - isn't it!
