Anybody visit the CuttingEdge.com lately?
  $23K for a knife???!!!! :(
It's a beaut, and Moran's work is something.... well, I guess if I want a car, I can either buy a used Honda if I simply want to get around... or if I want to enjoy it, I'd could spend the big bucks and get a Ferrari...
Dang, I think this is going to become an expensive hobby! ;)

I just returned from thecuttingedge and saw that!!!! Moran's, Loveless' and Warinskies, oh my..............I don't make near enough money for this.

Almost 600 posts and you are only just now coming to that conclusion?

If you are planning on purchasing ST-24 Morans or Loveless Big Bears then this knife hobby is not going to get expensive, it is going to get really expensive.

LOL!!! Kamakaz... Yeah, Anders Hogstrom and Tom Ferry have introduced me to the what I thought were the big leagues! :D and I knew Moran's work was getting astronomical prices...

But I also have to say that in the last three years, I have observed a rather sharp spike in just about all the price levels of collecting custom pieces... for a long time, you could actually hope to own something made by one of the classic bladesmiths... but not any more... Like HJK said, you can buy a house for the price of some pieces now, even while the maker is still alive!

Okay, I'm not really complaining - I understand a lot that has driven the market lately, and the net is one of those reasons - more people are finding out about the art of bladeworking and so the market will reflect the rise in interest with a rise in prices...

Unfortuneately, I found this out when I was collecting a certain painter's work... I guess the whole magic of the thing comes in knowing when to get in on the ground floor of some emerging new segment of the market, either a new artist or a new product... Oh well, timing is everything!

:D

Man. They've got some nice knives there.

I bought my Moran M-8 hunter back when I still had money- I was in high school! I've been thinking more about selling it lately, since I will be needing some decent cash before too long... I actually sent it to Nordic Knives some time ago, and then welched on the deal when I learned how much they were gonna keep for their commission. It was really stupid of me to not get all the facts beforehand. I'm still grateful for their grace and embarrassed for my stupidity.

Hi Possum,
I just sent you an e-mail but it bounced back saying your e-mail box is full.
Please shoot me some mail.

Phillip :)
