An email from Gelbu. Hopefully we'll have more good news like last time with all of your prayers.

Working very hard we could ship the khukuris yesterday. When DHL was carrying khukuris from Birgorkha police cought them on the way and we have to spent many hours in night in police station. Actually they are not
supposed to do like that but still there are many bullsit.

This is not funny. We need to keep them in our prayers for sure. For safety, too.

Almost makes places like Detroit seem reasonable...

There was a time a few years ago when a friend advised me mail could not reliably make it into much of Philadelphia and not to send things or letters, and if I did, not expect them to arrive.

Then I saw places in Calif this last summer that were lawless and looked like crime ridden parts of Mexico. People walked across the streets with no regard for traffic. The little store I stopped at to get gas had a restroom without a door. No, I didn't sit down on the seat, though it was a real extravagence they even had a seat. The graffitti translated roughly as, "we killed someone in this room last week."

OK, now there is a problem on the Nepali side of the shipping equation. Unfortunately we can't help directly here. However, as I mentioned before, every country needs and wants to export, and there should a high level "friend" in the Nepal government to ensure these things do not happen and make sure the products get shipped so foreign currency makes it back to Nepal. It's in their best interests.

Yup, prayers and Smoke for sure if nothing else. Maybe BirGhorka isn't greaseing the wheels that turn enough and I'm not talkin about the Prayer Wheels either.:grumpy:

Same here! This really sux. They've only been exporting khuks for a couple of hundred years; maybe the police could figure that out!? Just another way to take $ out of the hands of the poorest among them. Thieving Sunsab*&^%#$!

Anyway, like Bob said, prayers from here for sure.

The problem with greasing the wheels is it never ends. They'll figure HI can afford it. It was good at this amount 3 months ago so now it oughta go up.

You could actually go out of business greasing wheels.

This may be the most expressive and eloquent description of current conditions worldwide that I have read. I may add it as my sig :D

Yea, you'd think the greasees would realize that wouldn't you? Well maybe not, they can't be the brightest bulbs in the box anyway if they take grease until it forces a company out of business or makes it no longer worthwhile to produce. :grumpy:

I wonder why the AFL-CIO, Unions, and corrupt Corporate CEO's come to my mind as I'm reading this thread.

In the natural world, most parasites know enough not to kill off the host because they die too.......Maybe we could start a rumor that Osama Bin Hidin in Nepal, has his thumbs in his ears, fingers waggling, crosseyed, and with his tounge sticking out. Bush would invade, leading to ...ahem.....law and order in Nepal.. :D :D :D
