I personally like the SF handle better. Something about this nano fusion handle doesn't sit well with my hands. It's the one thing that keeps me from absolutely loving my NFBA and nano fusion Forsaken steel heart. I mean I REALLY like the Forsaken steel heart, but a different handle would make me LOVE it.

Just my 2 cents.

Having said that, I might just have to take some sand paper to it (and maybe a Dremel for texturing afterwards) and reshape the handle to my own liking..

The overall shape does look like it should work. Especially giving us two grips - choked up for dinner control or backed up for power. I think it's the big palm swell that isn't working well with me and hitting wierd spots. So maybe if I knock down the palm swell some and find a good balance, it might transform the handle for me.

Never the less... I'd never reject a call for more awesome designs from the gang!

What exactly are Nano Fusion handles? Are they just slimmer scales?
Here are Jerry's words from the release of the Forsaken Steel Heart, which was also the debut of the NF handle:

What is the Nano Fusion Handle?
Simply put, we took one of our most iconic large handles and saved the best parts (Overall shape, texturing, and length of grip range) and then modified the other parts to make it fit smaller blade profiles!!!!!

Of course, by "smaller blade profiles" you must remember that you are still in the land of Busse Combat, and that is the land of giants. . . So, "smaller blade profiles" are still coming in at the 6 - 8" range!!!:eek::eek::cool::D
I handed the prototype handle around to the guys and girls in the shop and you could hear the tears of joy splashing against the tons of INFI shavings on the floor!!!. . . Yes, it is that nice!!!!

As seen in the OP's post with pictures, they're a specific handle design with a specific type of fit/ergonomics. Sixpak1 quoted the bossman's description, but I think the visuals make it more apparent. And someone else raised a question before about the size of these nano fusion handles between different models, and Garth confirmed they're exactly the same between all models, regardless of the size of the rest of the blade.

At first I liked it. Big and comfy. But after a bit, not so much. Yes, it allows several grips, which I do not need on a knife this size (NFBA). I prefer something that feels like I can really hang on to it - snug. Kinda like with the NMSFNO. Great at first, but after a bit, too long. This became quite evident after I got my SFNO - just right! Like the ASH-1. Perfection.

Ok, after getting my hands on a couple of Crab Shack NF handles, I figured out why I don't like the micarta NF handles.

There's too much shaping/milling/tapering to the scales (looking down from spine, the two milled out portions between the tubes), which creates hotspots and pressure points in my palm. The CS handles are less contoured, and FAR more comfortable to me, regardless of handle thickness. I can now say that I LIKE the NF handle, but only if they're CS, or if Busse toned down the way it's milled, or if I can find a way to fill in the handle scales where it's been milled.

I stand behind no Bussemun in my appreciation of the ASH1. I own more of them than any sane man should. But the more I investigate, and actually handle the NFNO, it may very well become the contemporary of the Steel Heart design.

Not it’s superior, but perhaps it’s modern equal. In size and capability. But nothing will capture the pure beauty of that perfectly shaped SH, or ASH1 elliptical blade.

I think the smoothness of using flush ground pins rather than countersunk tubes is a great improvement over the other grades as well. I know that most people want all the texture they can get on a handle but I am the opposite. Most hand tools meant for hard use (picks, shovels, rakes, hoses, axes, hatchets, hammers, etc.) have smooth handles for a reason. Less blisters that way.

You TOTALLY nailed it, clampdaddy!
