Well, I am still playing around with making my own carbon fiber, so I decided to make a pen out of it. This is the Jr. Gent's sized pen with an overall length of about 5 inches. Compared to my damascus and mokume pens, this one is a feather weight at just 1.5 ounces. Done in fountain point, but I can also do ceramic roller ball. The nib is Iridium and all the fittings are platinum with gold accents.

Let me know what you think, good or bad. I truely appreciate the feedback.

Looks great! love how it's on a 45, herringbone-ish

Ever think of making a Cigar-sized pen?

Thanks, I like the pattern on this one too. I have only made two sizes of pens. This one is the smaller of the two. If you know what you want shoot me a link or a pic and I can see what I can do.

Here is a picture of the two sizes. The carbon fiber one above is the same size as the smaller one in the last picture.

Thanks again.

Wow, Sean, you obviously need me to drive down there and slap you silly! That looks great! I think there is a big market for CF pens. I would buy one. I think it also solves your care and maintenance issues with the damascus ones. Looking forward to you getting a lathe and cranking out some Ti and CF ones. Not that I could afford one, but at least I could download the pictures.

I have a question about the carbon fiber. Can you sand it much to shape it? It seems like it would have to be pretty much the shape you want it and that it might take some light finishing but not much more. Just curious because I have thought about using it for some scales but wanted to be able to round the edges. Thanks!

Thanks for the comliments, I appreciate it.

Yes you can shape carbon fiber, but you will distort the pattern. It won't look all pretty on the spots that you contour, but it still looks good.
