I think it was just something Jerry (and the gang) did one day. I don't think it was a special request, but one HOG knowns

Another +1 on the micarta inlay. I would love to have one of those; hollow grind, micarta inlay Fatty. It would fill the hand nicely, be tougher then nails and slice like crazy.
