ok a little info on this knife. it used to be a red bone kiwi, Paul gave me some stabilized Koa and i went to work. i sanded all the way to 2000 but it seemed to get a weird glassy looking film on it. Paul didnt want it polished but i tried a piece of the left over Koa and it shined up really nice so i polished it and it looks beautiful IMO. i hope you guys like but most especially i hope Paul is happy with it.

Very nice. I know I would be extremely happy with it! (Mailing address available on request :D)

Turned out great Tony, I'm dying to get my hands on it. :D

Great work, Tony! That looks sharp.

Good call on using Flame Wood for the scales, Paul. About time for some updated pics of the Kiwi collection, no? :)

Looks good, Tony:thumbup: How hard was it to remove the old scales(inlays)?

I had to chuckle at myself for a moment. I took a look at the very first pic and said, Is anyone going to tell this guy that the knife looks pretty bad? Of course I continued to scroll and the knife is gorgeous. Duh. :)

thanks for the compliments guys

Question: What did you use to restore the satin finish on the bolsters?

well i went down to 120 grit and lightly sanded it for like 20 minutes but those scratches were still there so i think i went to 220 or 300 over all the bolsters in the same direction to give it the brushed look and then you couldn't see the scratches. i then taped over the bolsters and repolished the wood scales.

not fun..they are epoxied in...here is thread where i showed everything from start to finish.

The Kiwi looks very good.
How long did it take you to do the scales, start to finish?
Nice job.

a full dayto do everythng, i ground out the old scales with a dremel. i did a step by step process in the kopa thread on here.

i didnt feel like starting another thread and since the first knife in this thread was koa, it seemed fitting to put these pics in here. I just got my new light box and i am almost done with this knife, i just need to put a few more coats of linseed oil on and clean it up a bit. the wood has "chantoyance" i was told, i didnt know what it was either...lol. here is a few pics of the wood before cutting it. on certain angles you can see waves and at different ones they just disappear.

and here is the knife, i tried to take a bunch of pics from different angles to show the differences.
