More on Canadian knife laws

I've heard that here in Canada any knife that can be flipped open is considered banned, even if it can also be opened without flipping. If this is the case, would a thumb stud knife with bearings be included in said category?

In most of Canada knife laws are a municipal regulation so they can vary.

There has been a flood of flipper type knives being seized by the CBSA that led to trade tribunal and then knives like that being classified as switchblades. The seizure and tribunal all hinge around one fool who felt they were the smartest guy in the room. You can look it up to see his name.

In the mean time I have imported on hand opening knives from the US that can be opened with minimal effort (no bearing ones though) and had some of them opened and inspected but no issues or seizures.

What is the exact model of knife you're looking at?

I was looking at the crkt ceo specifically, and live around toronto
If you search "CRKT CEO Canada" you'll see a bunch of spots to find them in country. No real need to import. When you factor in the tax and extra shipping and exchange you'll be just about level with US prices with less stress.
