I have had this Mark Holson bowie naked for about one year. I decided it was time for a sheath. Since this is only Mark's third bowie, I thought something special was in order. Dress it up nicely. Enter Paul Long.
I sent it to Paul without specific instructions, other than something nice, inlay of his choice included.
Here are two images Paul sent, taken with his new camera. Plus, his new wrap around retention strap adds a nice touch to a classy sheath.

VERY nice, sir. Coincidentally, I was talking with Paul today about the three sheaths he is making for me and he was telling my about this knife. He was saying that Mark and I shape wood handles similarly.....although Mark is much better in the fit and finish department...lol. I am also very glad to hear that he has that nice camera setup as I probably won't have time to have good pictures taken of the knives before the show.

Not only is Paul Long a great sheathmaker, he's a heck of a nice guy too! Both knife and sheath look outstanding.

I'm lucky enough to have met Paul and I own multiple pieces of his work. He truly is a "Texas gentleman"!!

Excellent work. I am grateful to you and others for bringing Paul's work to my attention. He'll be making a sheath for me for an incoming knife just as soon as it's finished. From our preliminary discussions, he sure has a passion for his craft and a lot of creative ideas for matching the design of the sheath to the knife. I am looking forward to seeing the results first hand in the near future.

Congrats on the terrific sheath AND the awesome Holson bowie. Talk about a rare bird - Holson makes Wheeler look prolific! :p

Wow. Just Wow. A good sheathmaker is much harder to find than a good knifemaker in my experience (running for cover.....)

well. I've done leatherwork since about 1973, as a semi-pro useta be.. that'll pass for as good as it gets. anybody knows of better would have to show me, i've not seen it. dang. be awful hard to argue with his good taste, but I wonder what he does to show off? ;)

Mitch, I thank you kindly for your comment. It means a lot coming from another leather man. I've got you by about 20 odd years. I carved into my first belt blank in 1951, but have just been "full time" since I retired (??) 13 years ago. thanks again.

Paul
